The coastal city of Da Nang in central Vietnam has a good number of big-name hotels and resorts lining its sandy beaches. On the northern side of My Khe beach is Four Points by Sheraton Danang. Opened in 2018, the hotel features 390 rooms complete with a restaurant, bar, spa, gym, and notably a photogenic rooftop pool and bar overlooking Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang bay.

Da Nang is a popular tourist destination. It has roots as a French colonial port and is close to a few UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the Old Town of Hoi An, the My Son ruins, and the Imperial City of Hue. Popular attractions nearby also include the Marble Mountains, Linh Ung Pagodas, and Ba Na hills. The city is served by Da Nang International Airport (DAD), which offers direct international flights to destinations like Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. The hotel is 7 kilometres or a 15-minute ride from the airport.
Four Points Danang is an imposing 36-floor building shared with the luxury apartment Altara Suites. It is located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, with public beach access just across the road. The surrounding area is mostly filled with apartments, and new ones are being built, but there are several seafood restaurants around. To reach the more tourist area, one can walk southwards along the coast. Otherwise, the ride-hailing service Grab is cheap, especially on a GrabBike for those who don't mind a thrilling ride.

There are two entrances on the western and eastern sides of the building. The lobby is bright and the building is served by four elevators—three regular elevators and one panoramic glass elevator offering a city view. Because it is 36 floors the elevators can get busy, especially during the breakfast rush hour.

Except for the 1-Bedroom Suites, the rooms have similar layouts but are differentiated by floors and view types (City view, Bay view, Panoramic ocean view). Higher floors offer better views, less noise from the incessant honking on the streets, and easier access to the facilities upstairs—the spa is on level 34, the gym is on level 35, and the Horizon restaurant and bar as well as the outdoor swimming pool are on level 36.

All rooms come with private balconies. From the Panoramic King Ocean View room one can wake up to the sunrise view against the ocean, which brings a resort feel (but no resort fee as this is a hotel).

There is 24-hour room service at Four Points Danang, with a reduced menu at midnight hours. All the Vietnamese dishes are there and the food came in a reasonable time.

Horizon restaurant & bar
On the top floor, level 36, Horizon restaurant & bar is open for dining and drinks with both indoor and poolside seating available. Four Point's best brew is available on tap here, and it seems there is a regular evening promotion available. As a good alternative, a range of healthy smoothies with interesting names are available, and they were pretty good.

Buffet breakfast at The Eatery
Breakfast is an extensive affair at the Four Points Danang, with plenty of options in a large restaurant. The Vietnamese dishes were great, with a few daily changes. Omelette, salad, and pastry stations were all available in the buffet spread.

It is noteworthy that Four Points Danang features a private dining room for Marriott Bonvoy members. Eligible guests are directed here upon entering the restaurant, allowing a quieter experience, better seats, carpeted floors, more attentive service, and also sparkling wine. This was a great touch and a very distinctive aspect of the hotel's loyalty recognition efforts (and this is "just" a Four Points!).

Swimming pool
The outdoor rooftop pool, located on level 36, is probably the best part of the hotel. One can get very good views of Da Nang bay from here and although it is not huge, it has a relaxing vibe. But the outermost seating is not usable in heavy rain, as the sea breeze tends to bring in rain, which had the hotel staff scrambling to keep the cushions. The pool is open from 7 am to 7 pm daily.

Serenity Spa
Perhaps unthinkable in western markets, this Four Points has a spa offering a variety of treatments including massages, body scrubs, facials, foot baths, and therapy baths. It is located on level 34 and is open 10 am to 10 pm. A traditional Vietnamese massage is 900,000 VND for 60 minutes.

Impressions
Almost a resort in a high-rise building, this hotel is just steps from the beachfront and offers a full range of facilities and services. Breakfast was extensive (with the private room being a distinctive touch), the pool is pretty, and there is a good spa available. As a leisure traveller, it would be perfect if the hotel was located in a busier stretch of the beach, but it is regardless a good pick.
